Heather Sherwood previously served in the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) for 13 years as a Naval Intelligence Officer. Her Naval career included postings as the CANLANT Analyst at TRINITY before transferring to Maritime Security Operations Center (MSOC) East as the DND Civil Maritime Analyst and Other Government Department Liaison Officer in 2004. She has varied operational experience having participated as part of joint RCMP/DND Operation CHABANEL onboard HMCS FREDERICTON (2006) and as the Arctic Maritime SME in several Northern Operations and Exercises such as OP LANCASTER, and the NORPLOY and NANOOK series. In 2010, she was posted to N31 MARLANT Operations with the NATO Exercise planning team before taking a position with the Canadian Coast Guard and returning to MSOC(E) as a Maritime Security Officer and Analyst in 2011. Her current duties include providing both Eastern Canadian and Arctic Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), trends and events analysis relating to fisheries, oil and gas, foreign and domestic research, shipping and Arctic adventurers/expeditions, illegal migration, marine smuggling and marine terrorism.
