Cdr Corey Steiro was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan (1991). He joined HMCS UNICORN (1994) as a Naval Combat Information Operator, and transferred to the regular force as a Naval Acoustics Operator (1996). After three years onboard HMCS OTTAWA, which included integration into the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN Battlegroup, he commissioned from the ranks as an Intelligence Officer. He has served as the Senior Staff Officer Intelligence at MARPAC, a senior analyst at Chief of Defence Intelligence, a liaison officer at the Office of Naval Intelligence, a staff officer at Canadian Joint Operations Centre, and Executive Officer of TRINITY. As part of Operation APOLLO, he deployed as the Staff Intelligence Officer (2003), and as part of Operation ATHENA to Afghanistan (2009). He attended the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College and completed his Master’s in Defence Studies (2011) and a Master’s in Strategic Intelligence at the American Military University (2013). Before being appointed as Commanding Officer of TRINITY (2017) he was the Acting Division Head for the ISRD Division at the Deployable Air Command and Control Centre in northern Italy.
