Scott Hatcher is a geospatial technician. His experience in GIS and Remote Sensing over the past four years has shown him the importance of choosing robust tools as early in the project as possible, as well as the importance of data integrity over volume. He has learned that a remote sensing product is only as good as the ground truth that ties it to its geophysical variable, and that the new currency is good training data.
Scott has worked on the coast of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Arctic, and New Zealand. Projects have always been geographical, and often coastal. His current work with PrecisionHawk focuses on turning UAV data into something useful for businesses.
Scott has a BA in Music/History from St. Francis Xavier University, an ADip in Remote Sensing from NSCC COGS, and an M.Sc. in Geography from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
