Mr. Verge is currently Managing Director of the Canadian Centre for Fisheries Innovation. Prior to taking that position in 2010, he spent most of his career as a professional engineer and management consultant. In that role, he had a broad range of experience in the fishing industry, including projects in resource management, resource development, harvesting, processing, and marketing of fish products. And his work literally took him around the world, giving him an understanding of how the Canadian industry compared with those of other countries. At CCFI, he has also been involved in aquaculture projects.
A theme throughout his career has been using information to improve decision making, increase efficiency, and reduce risk. He has designed and implemented information systems for that purpose. Because of recent developments in technology, he believes this is an area that offers tremendous promise for the future.
