Dr. Sergey Missan joined the 4Deep inwater imaging team in 2012 and is responsible for advancing the digital inline holographic imaging technology to new fields and applications, including oceanography, industrial quality control, and water quality monitoring. Digital inline holography is a unique imaging technique that combines very high resolution with imaging volume that is 500-1000 times higher than that of traditional microscopy. It is used to monitor for a presence of harmful algae in water, detecting oil spills, calculating sediment loads in rivers, and imaging marine plankton and sediments down to the depth of 5000 m.
Sergey has over 15 years of R&D and software development experience in biomedical and medical imaging companies. Sergey has consulted customers in numerous Fortune 500 companies on user interface development, industrial process controls, and agile team management. Sergey holds a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics from Dalhousie University.
